User-generated legislation? House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is appearing on Yahoo Answers this week to crowdsource ideas to include in bills to combat global warming. Yahoo Answers lets people throw out questions on just about any topic and get replies from the service’s 90 million members. The San Francisco Democrat’s virtual one-way town meeting is part of Yahoo’s (YHOO) "Be a Better Planet" campaign. As of this writing, more than 27,000 people have posted responses to Pelosi’s query on what they would like to see included in global warming legislation. Yahoo Answers participants rate each others’ responses, and at the moment some of the top suggestions recommend that Congress impose a national greenhouse gas emissions cap; mandate increased vehicle fuel efficiency; and promote mass transit and bicycling to discourage suburban sprawl. Then there’s the usual flamers and yahooism. (One top-rated answer urges the speaker to reject "ecomarxism.") Interestingly enough, posts by environmental experts like sustainability guru Lester Brown and eco-celebrities like TV environmental journalist Simran Sethi were given the thumbs-down by Yahoo Answers users, tagged "Answer hidden due to its low rating."
Pelosi Taps Yahoo Users for Global Warming Legislation Ideas

The United States Government needs to begin showing some leadership towards Global warming. Our California Governor has been doing this for some time and would be a great place to start towards reducing carbon emissions. There is no perfect formula to this disaster and our time is running short for our future world residents. It would seem we should pattern ourselves similar too California and modify as we become more educated on the subject. This way we are making some progress now and allowing our major corporations to begin appropriating money towards the future focus.
Personally, I feel we should endorse carbon trading. The slow pokes can trade money for credits. Making the fines somewhat stiff would provide them with incentive to make more positive moves to modernize the corporations. Irregardless, we need to begin the race now, and make improvements as we go. Standing back an looking for the perfect solution doesn’t display the leadership the world needs and frankly, won’t get the job done.

Utilizing alternative sources … wind, solar and clean coal. Reduce use of hydrocarbon products in packaging and plastic bags. Develop dedicated bicycling paths and offer tax benefit to those who cycle to work. Impose higher road and gasoline tax to SUV owners.
The idea I have to stop some global warming, is to have the government put the blue law back in to affect. Closing department stores on sunday will keep people at home , there will less vehicles on the roads, less fuel will be used to polute the air also saving our fuel supply. This would give the country over sixty days a year if they include all holidays too. I do not think this would hurt the retail & department stores at all. They should do their part to help the world like everyone else.
